Who are IWI Associates…

Dr Steve Frosdick

Steve has been Director of IWI Associates Ltd since 1996. He has two postgraduate degrees (MSc and PhD) as well as qualifications in spectator safety management, MSP programme management and PRINCE2 project management. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and was a Founder Member of the UK Football Safety Officers’ Association.

Alison Frosdick

Alison Frosdick has been the Company Secretary of IWI Associates since 1999 and a Director since 2010. She is responsible for various aspects of support and administration. Alison was previously a registered Occupational Therapist with over twenty years experience in the UK National Health Service.

Kate Adey

Kate Adey is the founder of Gryphon Safety and Security and also works as a consultant with IWI Associates. Kate is from a military background that spanned 24 years. Whilst serving in the Army, Kate embarked on a parallel career in the safety and security industry during which time she qualified as a Safety Officer.

Steve has completed a wide variety of consultancy, research and training projects. His strategic risk management experience includes safety and security at sports grounds, events management, policing, programme and project management, strategic and change management, corporate governance, information security, business risk and benefits management. Clients have included public assembly facilities managers and their representative organisations, sporting bodies, universities and publishers as well as police and criminal justice organisations.

During 2008 he led the operational safety and security function for the inaugural season of the football-themed motor racing series, Superleague Formula. Since then he has consulted on sports safety and security projects for clients in over 30 countries in Europe, the Middle East and Asia. He has worked extensively as an independent expert developing and delivering knowledge products for international organisations, including over eleven years with UEFA National Associations. He advises individual stadiums and clubs, as well as operating as an event safety officer in football and cricket.

Steve has been involved in academia since 1991 and has an international reputation as a scholar on safety and security at sports grounds. He has taught at universities and conferences in the UK, US, Mauritius and in countries throughout Europe. He has published five books and over 140 other papers. From 2007 to 2013 he was Visiting Professor in the Centre for Applied Criminology at Birmingham City University.

From 1979 to 1995, Steve worked as a police officer in a wide variety of operational and support posts. Operationally, he served as patrol officer, custody officer, shift manager and operations manager. In other roles he gained experience in corporate strategy, project management, the management of risk, information management, quality improvement, performance measurement and cognitive assessment.

Her experiences have been gleaned from a myriad of events including rugby, football, road running events, concerts and festivals. Kate is currently working with Fulham Football Club as the Corporate Safety and Security Manager for the club's modernised Riverside Stand that will sit within the new state of the art venue 'Fulham Pier'.

Away from the world of events, Kate is busy delivering and assessing safety and security training both in and outside of the industry, along with providing staff for corporate security roles, close protection tasks, surveillance and investigation.

Kate is also a member of the British Security Industry Authority (BSIA), and sits on the Board of the Training Providers Section.

The majority of Kate’s time in the Army was spent in the training environment carrying out instructor roles in various subjects and training students direct from basic training. Following her time as an instructor, Kate worked as a training analyst and was responsible for the training standards and evaluation of courses accessed by over 7,000 military staff. Latterly, Kate was employed as the lead instructor and first Training Warrant Officer (TWO) in her Corps, and was responsible for the continued professional development of over 50 instructors, specialising in coaching and mentoring, leadership and management, and equality and diversity.

Kate's interests include kickboxing, golf, photography and reading.

Chris Baker

Chris Baker is a stadium safety and security specialist who joined IWI Associates as Principal Consultant in November 2014.

Chris has over 15 years experience as a football stadium safety and security manager.

Ravi Sharma

Ravi Sharma BSc, Dip.RSA, CMIOSH, MIIRSM (RSP), MInstLM, MRSPH, MSyI is the Group Head of Health, Safety and Security at bet365 (including Stoke City FC). In total he has been employed since 2011, initially at Stoke City (previously the Head of Health, Safety and Security).

Prior to joining IWI, he spent three years working for Brighton and Hove Albion FC as Event Safety Officer and Security Manager at the American Express Community Stadium. In two of the last three years he won awards for the quality of the safety, security and service experience provided at the stadium.

Previous roles included six years as Stadium Operations Manager and Chief Safety Officer at Leyton Orient FC as well as posts at Southend United FC, Gravesend and Northfleet FC and Charlton Athletic FC.

From November 2014 until April 2015, Chris was deployed on a confidential project for a stadium operator. He also worked as a Deputy Safety Officer for West Ham United FC.

As well as pursuing his own business interests, Chris has continued to work with IWI as a Principal Associate on international education and training projects. In addition, he was appointed Head of Safety at Fulham FC in July 2020..

Since October 2020, when he was promoted to Group Head of Health, Safety and Security for the organisation. He has experience in safety and security management going back over 20 years. He was previously a Safety Advisor for Her Majesty's Prison Service where he was heavily involved in pandemic contingency planning, audits, operations and training.

Previous roles include Deputy Safety Officer at West Ham United and being part of a cadre of Safety Officers for the Rugby World Cup in 2015 at the former Olympic Stadium. Ravi is qualified to Bachelor’s degree level and has occupational health and safety diplomas as well as being a member of the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management, a Graduate member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health, Member of the Institute of Leadership and Management and a member of the Security Institute. He is also qualified to assess and teach.

Ravi also has taken part in an international public order and public safety project with a UK based research university and has delivered continuing professional development training to police commanders over a number of years. As well as working for bet365, Ravi pursues his own personal business interests in training and consultancy.
